ACADEMICS

Academics department has the following mandate;

  1. Ensure smooth running of core-curriculums, programmes, e.g. clubs, and games. Control innings and outings of students.
  2. Induction programmes geared towards inculcating school ethos and

culture to all new members of the school.

  1. Supervise curriculum implementation and evaluation.
  2. Oversee preparation of block timetable, allocation of subjects, teaching and learning programmes.
  3. Supervise preparation and executing of schemes of work.
  4. Oversee career education programmes are geared towards identification & harnessing of student’s talents/gifts.
  5. School internal and external evaluation programmes.


The following departments are under academics

  1. All academic departments these are; languages, mathematics, science and technical and applied
  2. Quality assurance and standards; to monitor and report time management in the school, curriculum implementation among others.
  3. Revision; to coordinate all revision matters
  4. Carriers; to give career guidance


Examination and evaluation section

Vision

To provide high quality, competitive, reliable and valid examinations.

Mission

To conduct examinations   which directs, measures and evaluates high quality achievement of the objectives as stated by The Education and Curriculum Development. The examination environment shall be guided by values namely: responsibility, integrity, promptness and provision of reliable feedback.


Introduction

The department has seven members headed by wachira,other members are  Mrs. Grace Kibira,  Mrs. Munyilu, Mrs. Mungara . We have exams running from the start to end of the term. The term starts with entry examinations which contributes 10 %, this is CAT 2, within the term we have 2 RATS which contributes 5 % and end term exams which takes 70 % of the total term marks. We have closing cat exams which account for 10% this exam is CAT 1 for next term, holiday assignment accounts for 5% of the total. Form four students have training exams from January to October. This system keeps the students engaged all the time. We also have a tracking system which monitors students’ performance from form one to form four. Each term we have midterm report and end term report for proper feedback and evaluation.

  • Coordinate setting and marking of all exams in the school
  • Writing of exam timetables
  • Coordinate supervision of exams
  • Coordinate entry of marks into the School Management System
  • Coordinate and print report forms for all students
  • Organize the binding of past exams and marking schemes
  • Review and enforce examination rules and regulations


EXAMINATIONS: RULES AND REGULATIONS

EXAMINATIONS: RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Students are supposed to be seated fifteen minutes before examination starting time; late comers will not be added any extra time. Students who come a half an hour late will not be allowed to sit the examination.
  2. Students are not allowed to have in possession or in your proximity while in examination room, any book, notes, papers or any other materials whatsoever except the correct question papers and any material expressly authorized by subject teacher during the examination time.
  3. Any student who commits an examination irregularity in any paper will have the results for the Particular paper cancelled for the term.
  4. Students may use mathematical tables, they should not contain any additional notes except the printed information.
  5. Any student who scores below C- and below in End Term examinations will receive a warning letter, will be banned from non-academic outings.
  6. All students will be expected to sit for all examinations at scheduled time. NO alternative examination will be given. 
  7. All books should be removed from desks, window-sills and the floor during examination period. Books will be kept in outside lockers or hostel. All bags will be kept outside the examination room during examination time.  
  8. All students should either be in examination room, library, A-hall during the examination period. Those found outside without official permission will be punished under the school penal code.
  9. All rooms should be clean and desks arranged in an order to have some space between the candidates’ during examination period.
  10. All academic posters should be removed from examination room during examination period.
  11. No student will be allowed to go out of the examination room until the   answer sheets are collected by the invigilator.
  12. Sleeping in an exam room is an examination room is punishable offence.
  13. No communication whatsoever in whatever manner between candidates or with outsiders is allowed during the examination.
  14. You must return immediately to the invigilator any question paper that has smudges, errors or is badly printed.
  15. Fleece jackets will not be won in an examination room.
  16. All students must sign against their names on the class list during CATs and End Term examinations.
